With the installation of AED No. 37 at the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, the institution has become the first healthcare facility to join Grupo Venemergencia’s national network of heart-safe zones.
CARACAS, August 2026. — As part of its commitment to transforming spaces across the country into safer environments, Grupo Venemergencia installed Automated External Defibrillator (AED) No. 37 at the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in Caracas. This joint effort raises the standards for safety and prehospital emergency response at the institution, making it the first healthcare facility to officially join the national network of heart-safe zones.
A Milestone for Prehospital Care
This milestone represents a fundamental step toward strengthening the chain of survival and ensuring an immediate response to sudden cardiac death events. As this is the program’s first defibrillator installed within a hospital facility, its strategic location ensures that healthcare staff, patients, family members, and visitors all have access to the technology needed to save lives during the first few minutes of a cardiovascular emergency.
“For us, this is a source of immense pride because it connects us to the significance of an effort that began 84 years ago with the founding of this hospital, led by Eugenio Mendoza, who was determined that no child should lose their mobility or quality of life. Today, by being part of this initiative at the country’s leading orthopedic center, we are fulfilling our mission to improve quality of life and continue providing access to healthcare for all Venezuelans,” said Dr. Andrés Simón González-Silén, founding partner and CEO of Grupo Venemergencia.
For her part, Andreína Vogeler de Pérez, a member of the board of directors of the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, highlighted the daily impact of this donation: “Celebrating this partnership and establishing this cardiac-protected zone is vital for the more than 500 people we receive here at the hospital every day. Just as valuable as having the AED is the fact that our entire team receives training from the Venemergencia Foundation on how to use the device, be prepared, and save lives.”
Training as First Responders
In addition to the technological resources and the physical installation of the equipment, the cardioprotected zones program stands out for its comprehensive approach. The delivery of the device in each zone is accompanied by training for those who spend time there to serve as first responders through Basic Life Support (BLS) training and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) practice.
In this way, Venemergencia continues to expand its positive impact and strengthen its response capacity to out-of-hospital medical emergencies in high-traffic areas throughout the country.
